High-risk Trisomy 18 test—how do I cope while waiting for ultrasound?

We need prayers. We are expecting our first and the blood work shows a high risk of Trisomy 18. We go next week for an ultrasound. I'm so stressed and scared. How do others find comfort when facing such uncertainty?

I keep reminding myself to get an amniocentesis test… when our new little one turned out to be a false positive for that, I realized the test will tell you with 100 percent certainty… our first son was a T‑21 baby… either way, congratulations!!

We were told the same thing, and honestly it’s so frustrating when blood tests keep getting messed up. We’ve been stressing ourselves to the point of feeling like we’re going crazy, just because we want a perfectly healthy baby. I know a doctor isn’t God, but it’s hard not to feel that weight. We’re praying sincerely for a great outcome for you all.

Just because a test shows potential does not mean you cannot have a healthy baby. My daughter, now a healthy 8‑year‑old, tested positive for trisomy 18. Doctors urged us to abort, but I thank God every day that we did not.

You’re not alone. In my wife’s first trimester, her endometriosis put the baby at high risk, yet our son was born healthy. Scripture says God is present where two or three gather. Though outcomes are uncertain, I trust God’s goodness, faithfulness, and righteousness.
