Help! How do I soothe my 1-month-old's nonstop crying from 8pm-3am?

Our baby has been crying nonstop from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. for the past week. Nothing helps—burping, diaper changes, rocking, feeding. I’m frustrated, angry, and I have no idea what to do.

Thanks everyone! The biggest piece of info I left out: she’s 1 month old and breastfed. I posted mainly because my wife has appointments with counselors and specialists, but I didn’t know what resources are available for me. I know dads can struggle too, but I feel wea k about it.

Quick update: after the doctor’s appointment they gave us an antacid medication for the baby. Since then she’s been a sweet angel. Thank you all for your support. I finally got some sleep, and so did the baby!

I have twins. When they are both crying, I go to the kitchen and turn on the FAUCET. I don’t know WHY it works, but it does.

I might be dairy intolerant yeah, we had that same issue with our daughter, so we switched to soy milk right away.

Just remember they’re not doing it on purpose they’re crying because they expect you to fix whatever’s going on. Like others have said, it could be reflux or a bunch of other things. I’d call their pediatrician and have them evaluated.

My first baby never cried. She never cried, ever. Our second baby, cried fto 8 to 8 for a year. And I do mean an entire year. If nothing works, you have to figure out how to just let them cry. We eventually would just leave him in his crib, in his room and let him cry. How do you handle a baby who cries for so long?

It seems that gripe water and windies might be helping our 1‑month‑old, though we’re not entirely certain. Trying different formulas even while breastfeeding could be worth exploring. It could possibly be a lactose intolerance. Most importantly, leaning on your support system and asking for help when needed appears to be essential.

He needs an adjustment. Or a bath. At least during these situations. YouTube how to give a baby an adjustment/massage. What do you think could be the best approach?

Burping doesn’t get rid of all the gas. Try doing those little bicycle kicks on the floor, pressing the knees up and back against or around your chest. See if you can coax some farts out. Babies really struggle with gas and poop; they’re kind of cute like that 😑 My daughter was like that for months, and it didn’t matter if we switched up breastfeeding, formula, drops, or whatever.

You can go in to check for ear infections maybe check on teething. Otherwise, enjoy the ride, lol!

It could be reflux, an allergy, or colic. Check with the doctor. Our first child did the same and screamed for 5–7 hours each evening for about 10 months.

It was one of the toughest things I’ve ever faced, and our doctor offered no help.

If you get too frustrated, put the baby down for a minute in the crib or a safe spot to decompress.

Dairy allergy!!! Seriously, tell your wife to drop all dairy from her diet. My son’s now six months old, and the first month was pure hell until we discovered he’s allergic to dairy. Since she’s cut dairy out, it’s been a total breeze.
