It seems it took me some time to come to terms with receiving what felt like the losing end of my situation, though I’m not entirely sure how long that period was. I was repeatedly told it was a win, yet the feeling persisted that I had lost everything. Having my children taken away, being portrayed as a demon, and being cast as a terrible person when I had given up so much to provide these experiences still linger, even if I’m not completely certain how to weighh them. Over time I began to wonder whether things might not have been as terrible as they could have been. I can still see them and spend time with them, even if it’s far less than what might seem fair, and I try to make the most of whatever time I have.
I hope that, in the extended hearing, you might at least fare as well as I have, though I’m uncertain what that will look like.
My situation started out much like yours did. There doesn’t seem to be much that can be done, except that things will likely remain with her as the sole custodian until we reach a court date. My case turned out to be more complex than many, given the distance across several states, which adds another layer of uncertainty.
Just try to keep your head up and hold onto the hope that justice might prevail; what should happen may eventually come, though I can’t predict exactly when.
