How can I teach my son about women's emotions respectfully?

I’m yearning to have a mature, respectful conversation with my son about women—their hormones, how those shifts touch their emotions, and everything that comes with it. Any advice on how I can approach this delicate subject while truly honoring women? I’m scared he might turn into another chauvinist pig; I’d rather see him grow with genuine understanding.

Men and women differ; our hormones differ. We must acknowledge this, out of respect for women, rather than claim we’re all the same. The menstrual cycle is a near‑lifelong biological event that men have no comparable experience. Equality does not mean identical. I believe the parent’s discussion with their children is both important and necessary.

I agree that Mom should also talk to him, but I think it’s important when a man dad, uncle, or grandpa does it. He will take it seriously because it comes from a man, and he’ll know it’s okay to be sensitive at that age and not take it personally. Good job, Dad, for taking this step. Many people don’t have these talks, but they are important, IMO.

But honestly, the best lessons are the ones we actually see. Treat those women right, and let him watch you get stomped on, lol. It doesn’t really click until you live through it. We can do everything perfectly and it still feels off.

It sounds challenging to articulate, yet, as the saying goes in flight emergencies, we might first put on our own mask before assisting others…

A similar principle could apply to interactions between boys and girls. If one becomes unhinged by emotions, it seems likely that relationships could suffer,?leaving no one truly safe.

I think it’s best if your wife talks to your son, while you focus on showing him what being a man means and what to look for in a partner. From what I’ve seen, too many guys end up making bad choices because their dads never took the time to point them in the right direction. Both parents matter.in shaping how a kid sees relationships, making sure they have a solid sense of self before they try to take care of someone else.

What a great question. The best thing you can do is model how you treat women including your mom and sister because your son is watching.

Also, blood sugar affects everyone. Use it to explain how your son’s low blood sugar can swing his mood, and tell girls it’s not just sugar it’s also their menstrual cycle.

I've seen men act up because of their emotions all the same.

The actions were different, but the root of not being able to control emotions without our year isn't a woman thing.

Teach your son to navigate emotions period. The best place to start is with empathy.

If you understand the emotion, you can understand it in other people and you learn to act accordingly.
