How can I improve my conversation skills as an introvert?

I need some advice on how to get better at having good conversations. I’m an introvert, but I want to talk to people more and be outgoing. So any tips and tricks on being a good conversationalist would be great—please and thank you!

There’s a saying that interested people are interesting.

People love to talk about themselves so just ask people about their story and listen.

It feels really natural and you’ll stand out. What do you think about sharing curiosity with others?

Eye contact is important, but it can be tough. I’m not really into most people, so I don’t put in much effort.

I had this super extroverted buddy who’d feel like he was dying if there was silence for more than a second. One thing he said really stuck with me.

Music and food everyone loves at least one, probably both to some degree. You can always click with people over a good song o r a tasty meal.

2 things 1... Talk to everyone! Say hi to the barista at Star Bucks, the waiter at the cafe, the guys standing behind you in line at Walmart. Set a goal to start a conversation with 3 to 5 people every day and commit to it. 2... take an improve class game changer.

1) Smile; it makes you look friendly, happy, and approachable.
2) Be genuine in conversation, or humorous when appropriate. People can tell small talk from real interest.
3) Master small talk, then transition smoothly to genuine conversation.
4) Choose broad topics most people relate to (comedians do this well).
