Start collecting toys … old vintage toys … cards of some sort … perhaps that way, over the next 10+ years, you and your child could collect together and bond over something child‑like! I love seeing my son play with the toys I’ve gathered … little does he know, maybe one day they’ll be extremely valuable… and all for him! So it feels like a cool thing, because you might really gain something valuable to hand down and leave behind! “Dad, dad! Let’s go to the flea market this weekend” …when I hear my son say those words, I think I’ll be a very happy dad, and I’m pretty sure I’ll feel cooler than a cucumber.

I’ve discovered that teaching them how to use power tools and fix shit creates a genuine, hands‑on connection. When I spend quality time doing that, I feel like I’m passing on priceless life lessons, and I can see the kids become absolutely intrigued it’s something we both end up enjoying, especially when we do it right.
