How can I baby-proof my fireplace without major changes?

He y guys, so my little dude is OBSESSED with the gaps around the fireplace—whether he's in his high chair or crawling, that's his #1 spot 😂.

But here's the issue: the fireplace is our main heat source. Right now, we can only use it at night, but we really need it during the day too.

Anyone got tips on how to build a fence around it to keep him from getting too close? BTW, he thinks he's a bulldozer, so compost bins are a no-go 😂.

He's almost 10 months old, so the whole no thing hasn't clicked yet.

We're renting, so no major changes allowed. Help!

There are great gates as a solution. Check out the marketplace; they don't have to cost hundreds of dollars. 😊

Teach your child the significance of the fireplace. Let them feel the heat through the radiation, but don’t let them get too close or burn themselves. I have three fireplaces myself and no gates. At first, you’ll need to consistently point out and teach them that it’s always warm, even when it’s not in use.

As several have suggested, you should go with BabyDan. They’re often available used, easy to adjust or remove sections that aren’t needed, and the sections come in different sizes.

My kids were the same. Super curious—until they each had a little accident.

One stumbled and brushed against the stove door, and the other touched it briefly while it was hot.

After that, they lost all interest in the stove.

I also cast my vote for Baby Dan. A few holes in the wall from the fixtures are easy to fix if you move out.
