Which baby car seat would you recommend for a newborn?

Our first baby arrives in April. Need car seat recommendations now.

Prioritize LATCH-compatible options, but share other ideas too.

Don’t spend the money on a swivel feature for the infant seat save that for when they’re older and can resist.
Being able to remove the seat from the LATCH base is super convenient; you just install the base and click the seat in, so you can take the seat with you.
Check if you have a stroller that the infant seat can attach to. It’s a game changer when the baby is sleeping and you need to go shopping or something.

It's definitely worth having a baby seat that can be attached to a stroller. However, keep in mind that you can't let them sit in it for days on end just because it's convenient.

If you have a removable baby seat, you can also use it in, for example, a shopping cart for quick grocery runs, etc.

We got a car seat from Maxi cosy from my parents, and it's been great, with an Isofix base for easy in and out of the car.
Worth noting is to check if there are adapters for the stroller, for example, Maxi cosy > Emmaljunga, which makes it even smoother for those times you need to bring the stroller. ☺️

I chose a car seat based on what seemed good and also which one was compatible with the stroller. It was super convenient to be able to move the baby from the car to the stroller when they were sleeping and I needed to go shopping or something like that.

Check the reviews and go for the cheapest one that’s safe save the money for something fun instead. Don’t bother with LATCH, it’s not worth it. Once you get the hang of buckling, it takes like five seconds.

Compatibility with a stroller is pointless. We had it for our first kid and used it maybe once. If you’re shopping or something, you’re not bringing the stroller anyway you just stick the car seat in the shopping cart.

I’m going against the grain here, but honestly, I think all that extra stuff is just annoying. Keep it simple. 🫣🙂
