Which car is best for a growing family: Volvo V60, XC40, VW Tiguan, or Kia Ceed?

We're really thrilled about getting a new car soon and would love to hear your thoughts and experiences. Here's what we're thinking:

We've got our eyes on a Volvo V60, XC40, Volkswagen Tiguan, or a Kia Ceed. We're torn between a wagon and an SUV/crossover—so many great options! 🤔

Our budget is around $30k, with half paid upfront. We're looking for a low-mileage car that we can cherish for years or maybe even use as a trade-in later. We currently have two cars, one for the daily commute.

Honestly, we're a bit clueless about service costs, repairs, insurance, and all that jazz. 🤷♀️

We have a 1-year-old, and we're hopiing to grow our family soon. What car would you recommend for us? Do you have any fantastic family car suggestions that worked wonders for you? 🚗👶

I looked at a Tiguan but ended up choosing a Touran instead. The deeper trunk means there's plenty of space for all the strollers and Sunday shopping. Plus, you can fold up two extra seats, so half the soccer team can fit if needed.

We have a Suzuki Swace (which is essentially a Toyota Corolla under a different name). We bought it two years ago for around $28,000.
It has low fuel consumption at 0.42 liters per 100 km when the car is fully loaded with two kids and two adults.
Low ownership costs.
Can be found at great prices on the used market.
Features include automatic climate control and Apple CarPlay.

My wife and I currently drive a Kia K5 plug in hybrid. We have two kids one is 4 years old, and the other is 3 months old. We don’t do a lot of long drives in our daily routine, but size wise, it works well for us. We bought it two years ago for $25,000 with 6,000 miles on it.

We looked at the XC40, but we ended up with a Lynk & Co 01. It was priced at 300k Swedish kronor, a used low milage vehicle. We're really happy with it so far. We're a family of three.

If you're considering Škoda, I'd recommend the Superb over the Octavia, especially when it comes to legroom with car seats and cargo space.

I would recommend a Volvo XC70. It's a pleasure to drive and you can easily load a Ford Fiesta in the back. 😊

Like many others have suggested, take a look at a Skoda Superb. It’s going to be our next car after our V70, which has just hit 30,000 miles and will soon become our extra vehicle.

If space is your main priority, steer clear of the Volkswagen and Volvo they come with unnecessarily high service costs and parts.

If you want a car that will actually last, go with a newer RAV4.

Personally, I'd go with a T Roc over a Tiguan. The Tiguan might be more comfortable, but it's more expensive to maintain.

Just switched from an MG ZS EV to a Kia Ceed so from a smaller SUV to a wagon. I regret it immensely! As soon as I can, I’ll switch back to an SUV. Better in every way in my experience. The automatic transmission on the Kia Ceed is also terrible really jerky...
