I’ve grappled with this decision for so long, and it still haunts me. I thought I was doing the right thing working endlessly, providing for my family, giving them everything they could ever need. But the truth is, I was missing out on the one thing I can never get back: the time my kids were young. My ex wife pleaded with me to find a job that would give me more time with them, and deep down, I knew she was right. I took a pay cut, hoping it would bring us closer, but it backfired in ways I never imagined.
When I said no to something she wanted something expensive, something tha would’ve drained our savings she made it clear I’d failed her. It didn’t matter that I’d sacrificed so much already; in her eyes, I wasn’t enough. It’s painfully clear now that no matter what I did, it wouldn’t have been enough. You can’t buy happiness, and you can’t force someone to be happy with what they have. I thought I was making the right choice, but it cost me everything.
